I just love the fall season here in Lancaster County; the air is crisp, the leaves take on gorgeous hues, and then there are the amazing fall festivals! I always point our guests in the direction of Landis Valley Museum and the historic Ephrata Cloister when they’re looking for Lancaster County fall events that offer something for the entire family. Here’s what’s happening at both this autumn season…

This is Landis Valley’s largest and oldest event – complete with all sorts of activities from family-oriented demonstrations to live music to crafts to horse-drawn wagon rides to a children’s discovery tent. And what would a fall festival be without a pumpkin patch where you can pick your own pumpkin and decorate it?
Then there’s the food – freshly-churned ice cream (enjoy alone or in a cider float) and a food court where you can sit down and enjoy a variety of fabulous fair food. Best of all, you can be there in just 20 minutes from the Historic Smithton Inn.
Apples and autumn are the perfect combination in Lancaster County – especially at the Ephrata Cloister!

Their apple dumplings are known far and wide; they are DELICIOUS! Don’t miss your opportunity to enjoy these delightful Lancaster County delicacies on Oct. 11 and 12. Trust me, they’re so good, you’ll want to take some home to share with your family and friends.
Also on October 12 is the Ephrata Cloister’s Day of Music from 10 – 4. This melodic event shares the musical heritage of the Cloister and other early American communities. Throughout the day (at 2 PM, 3 PM and 4 PM), the Ephrata Cloister Chorus will perform some of the hymns written long ago by the brothers and sisters of the Ephrata Cloister settlement. Regular admission rates apply.
Whether you’re visiting the area or are a long-time resident, I hope you’ll make these fun fall events a part of your October agenda.
