Whether you’re a connoisseur or simply enjoy the taste of a nice white or red with dinner, you’ll be delighted to know Lancaster County has many local wineries to satisfy your inner-wine lover.
To save you the trouble of “googling” to find them on your own, here’s a list of a few that we find exceptional. Most offer free wine tasting so you can sample their varieties before purchasing bottles to savor later.
Lancaster County Wineries
Family-owned and operated, Nissley Winery at 40 Vintage Drive, Bainbridge, PA is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2013. What better time to pay them a visit? In Lancaster County, they also have stores in Park City Center and at the Rockvale Outlets. They’ve got a broad selection of wines to satisfy all tastes and preferences and regularly run wine-centric events at their vineyard.
A picturesque 67-acre retreat, Twin Brook Winery is located at 5697 Strasburg Road in Gap. Besides great wine, they also offer concerts on select Friday evenings in June through mid-November and they participate in many local events. Don’t want to make the drive to Gap? They’ve also got a store at 26 East Main St. Lititz – only about 15 minutes from our inn!
Thorn Hill Wine Tasting Store
Thorn Hill specializes in hand-crafted artisan wines made from hand-harvested grapes from their vineyards in California. At their wine tasting store at 1945 Fruitville Pike in Lancaster, you can sample, enjoy a glass, or purchase bottles of their Bordeaux varietals, Chardonnay and Petite Sirah. If you’re local to the Lancaster area, consider joining their Wine Club to get invitations to special events and to receive special rates on their wines.
Mt. Hope Estate and Winery
Also home to the PA Renaissance Faire, Mt. Hope Winery has an on-site wine shop at its 2775 Lebanon Road, Manheim location and another wine store at 3174 Old Philadelphia Pike in Bird in Hand. Hope Estate so tune into the PA Renaissance Faire website for the latest festivals and events.
