Red Chair Visits

places! Wineries, breweries, historic sites, community events, local artisans and a minor league baseball game were just part of the Red Chair’s itinerary!
It’s truly difficult to narrow down Red’s favorite places during its stay in Ephrata, PA. One of the highlights was definitely visiting Martin’s Pretzel Factory where the workers broke into song (Amazing Grace) as they twisted pretzels. No wonder those pretzels taste so good!
Waltz Vineyards and St.Boniface Craft Beer represented the MANY local wineries and breweries we have in Lancaster County. We also are famous for our local artisans which were represented by visiting Martin’s Chairs and Ned Foltz Pottery.The Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania highlighted the natural beauty and wildlife you can take in throughout the county.
And of course, the farmer’s
markets (Green Dragon and Whistle Stop Markets in Ephrata), the country drives through gorgeous farms nearly ready for harvest, the Historic Ephrata Cloister, a stunning 18th Century religious community turned State Museum, and a walk down the Dick Winter’s Memorial Trail, just a stone’s throw from where the WWII hero, author and “Band of Brother’s” star grew up, were also highlights.
The grand finale was a trip
to see a Lancaster Barnstormers game. Our minor league baseball team rolled out the red carpet for “Red” who was excited to hang out with Silo, the team mascot.
Red had a busy visit during it's stay at the Historic Smithton Inn, and was glad to be staying with 4 other wonderful B and Bs in the county too…because there's WAY too much to see in Lancaster County to fit it all into a 3-day trip!
