The Amish Experience in Lancaster, PA has been in operation since 1959, educating the public on Amish culture and sharing the food of the Pennsylvania Dutch region. Choose from any of the tours available, visit the incredible onsite restaurant, and explore the authentic Amish House & School that has been a landmark for over 50 years. There’s no better way to get a crash course in this amazing way of life than a visit to The Amish Experience!
If you’re looking to spend the day shopping, there’s no better place to go than Kitchen Kettle Village. What first began as a single jelly store has morphed into a small town of shops, restaurants, and lodging. In total, you can browse through 42 shops on the grounds selling everything from homemade baked goods and jams to quilts and pottery. You name it, there’s probably a shop selling it in Kitchen Kettle Village! This is a great day trip for any guest staying with us at Historic Smithton Inn. This is definitely one of our favorite Lancaster, PA, attractions.
During your stay, make sure to take advantage of one of the best Amish buggy rides in town! If you don’t have time to commit to a day at The Amish Experience or you just want a shorter tour of the area, these are a great alternative. For a more private experience, take a tour from Abe’s Buggy Rides. If you’d prefer an open wagon, stop by AAA Buggy Rides. Finally, Ed’s Buggy Rides has a great petting zoo onsite for you to enjoy after your trip. There’s something for everyone!
