The most popular attraction in Strasburg PA is hands-down the Strasburg Rail Road! You can take a simple “out & back” tour or choose an enhanced experience like riding in a VIP car or taking in the special wine & cheese tour. Located right across the street from the Strasburg Rail Road, you might be lulled into thinking you should skip this attraction because it’s a children’s activity. I’m here to emphatically tell you that you couldn’t be more wrong!! While children are definitely going to enjoy a visit to the Choo Choo Barn, it is NOT a ‘baby-place’. This model railroad is SERIOUSLY cool!
Tours are such a wonderful way to truly immerse yourself in the beauty and culture of Lancaster County. These tours in or near Strasburg are some of the best in the area! From seeing farm animals up close, to soaring above it all in a Hot Air Balloon, these Lancaster PA experiences are ones you’ll remember for a lifetime.
Lancaster County is home to one of the largest concentrations of Covered Bridges in the country. There’s a fantastic cluster of them just a stone’s throw from Strasburg and we love sending our guests to this loop.
Pro-tip: If you have any difficulty finding any of Lancaster County’s covered bridges, simply open a web browser on your phone. Type in “Covered bridges near me” and you’ll be directed to the bridge closest to you.
Strasburg is home to nationally the nationally known theater, Sight & Sound, as well as some other small theaters & music venues. While Sight & Sound Theater is literally the most visited attraction in Lancaster County, the other theaters and performance halls in and near Stroudsburg offer fantastic entertainment for visitors as well. Sight & Sound and Living Waters are both biblically-oriented experiences, while American Music Theater, as the name suggests, is a concert venue that also hosts special events like Dancing with the Stars. Magic & Wonder Theater will wow you with amazing illusions that will have you thinking you’ve been transported to Las Vegas! Enjoy!!

Ice Cream in Lancaster County is a special treat. Why? Well basically because Lancaster County is Amish Dairy Country! The majority of farms you see as you drive the backroads of Lancaster PA are dairy farms and as a result, we’ve got some crazy-good ice cream for visitors to enjoy. Strasburg’s biggest claim to fame is clearly related to the Railroad, and so its fitting that there are two really interesting museums in or near Strasburg related to Railroads and toy trains.
Mud Sales are something special and unique to Lancaster County! Sure you can go to flea markets and auctions everywhere, but we're here to tell you that a Mud Sale is a completely different animal! You'll enjoy sensory overload as you're surrounded by the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of a Mud Sale. Try some authentic Amish foods, bid on a hand-sewn quilt, watch adorable Amish Children play and more!!

There are a number of buggy rides that visitors can enjoy in Lancaster County, and three of them are based in or near Strasburg. That might be a clue that the countryside around Strasburg is seriously scenic!!!
Did you know that portions of the Thomas the Train movie were filmed in Strasburg, PA?! Its a special treat for children both young and young at heart to visit Strasburg during one of the Thomas the Train events hosted at the Strasburg Railroad. The Special Event happens two times a year, from late April to Mid June and then again in September.
Separate photo opportunities with THOMAS, RUSTY, and MAVIS (select days) are even available! Other activities include a visit with Sir Topham Hatt, play pods, a dance party, and more!
